2026 Term 3 Message
"A school should not just be a place where children go to learn, but a community where they learn how to live together." — John Dewey
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we restart a brand-new school term, I would like to welcome all our Admirals back to our Admiralty Primary School community. To our new Admirals who have just transferred in to Admiralty Primary School, a very warm welcome to all of you!
John Dewey, an influential educator and psychologist, had suggested many years ago that our schools ought to be like a community: a place for our children to learn together, grow alongside one another, and support fellow Admirals in their quest for excellence. As the Principal of the school, I am proud to see how our Admirals have displayed acts of kindness towards one another, extended a helping hand to friends in need, and even resolved conflicts with each other when they have disagreements. In instances where we witnessed our students making the wrong choices, these are also moments when we step in to educate them through guided reflections and appropriate consequences, so that it is inculcated in our Admirals the right way to live and learn alongside others in this community. Parents, you have been an invaluable partner in this community that we are building together, and I thank you for that.
To build a strong community here at Admiralty Primary School, there is also a need for us to grow our sense of pride and belonging to this place that we often call our “second home”. This is also why our Admirals have heard me emphasise repeatedly about the importance of doing the simplest – yet impactful – things, e.g. greeting one another with a smile, cheering for their classmates/schoolmates when they have done well for the school in games and competitions, and showing resilience and displaying sportsmanship when they represent the school in external competitions. Small things do matter; these little things, added up, build the character of our Admirals in a huge way. How our Admirals behave within school and beyond our school gates matter too. When outside of school, our Admirals become the best ambassadors for Admiralty Primary School. When they wear our official “checkered” school uniform or P.E. attire (the yellow top and blue shorts) neatly tucked in and with pride, they are showcasing to the public important symbols of the school that we are all proud of. We will continue to emphasise the importance of these values to our Admirals in school, and we would like to seek parents’ partnership in reinforcing the same at home as well.
Once again, thank you for coming onboard this journey with us. Let’s work closely with one another to build an Admiralty Primary School community that we will all be proud of – one that supports all our Admirals in their growth and development.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Chen Zhongyi
Principal
